Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because
greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4
In life, the understanding of who you are outweighs the knowledge
of what you know. Nothing can override the knowledge of your
identity. Your identity sets you to be distinctive and unique. Knowing your
uniqueness determines your confidence in the way you deal with issues in
life.
Unfortunately, many of God’s children have not developed the
understanding of their spiritual identity in God. Most of them relate to
themselves according to the physical identity of their natural birth and the
identity society has labelled them. For this reason, many live under
obscurity.
You see, when we become born again, we take on a new identity.
Scripture says therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things
are passed away; behold, all things are become new, 2 Cor. 5:17. All the things of
the fleshy identity count no more. They are of no value to you anymore as
expired groceries would be to a housewife. For this reason, we no longer
have confidence in the flesh, (Phil. 3:3). We have taken on a new identity of
the spirit with no record from the past.
In the opening scripture, we are made aware of our new identity. We
are of God; implying, you are born of God. You are hailed from God. You
came forth from God. You are of a species that has conquered its
adversary. God has anointed you and secured you from all infectious fears
and false teachings in the world, which corrupts your mind set, by giving
you the greater one, the Holy Spirit. This is your composition that describes your new identity. Knowing your composition in God develops
confidence in yourself, because the greater one is in you.
For this reason, Paul is able to say, I can do all things through Christ,
which strengthens me, Phil 4:13. His confidence was in that which Christ
made him.
Similarly, you ought to have confidence in yourself. You can do
anything that you put your will to. God has made you into an invincible
species in which the God and man attributes are working together in you.
Do not let yourself down by walking in fear and failure. You are a design
of success. You may have failed before, but you learnt how not to fail
again.
So, get yourself together and rise to the heights God expects you to
be. The greater one is in you to help you overcome your adversaries along
the way.
Confession
I believe the greater one is in me.
God has designed me for success.
Failure is not my portion.
Everything I do and everything
around me works out for my good.
I am of an overcoming species I
cannot fail, in Jesus name, amen.
